How to go somewhere?
In this term, I have a task to make a media for teaching English. Alhamdulillah, I choose to make a map. First, I thought what would I teaach, I remember when I learned "Direction", I need more focus, because it's so difficult to be understood. Well, here I will introduce my media.
1. The
Name of Media
Road Map - Chart
2.
The
Meaning
Chart is a drawing which shows
information in the form of a diagram, a map of the sea or the sky, etc. (Dian
Kardijan, M.Pd)
Accordingto brown, James W.
(1983;112), “to present visually ideas or concepts which are likely to be
difficult to understand if they are presented in oral or written form. Chart
also can highlight important points of presentations. An effective chart tends
to be composed of mixture of several different types of graphics, pictures,
drawings, graphs, diagram, ad verbal materials”.
3.
The
Characteristic
Pictures in the charts should
be big enough so the students sitting in the back of the class can still see
them well. (Brown, James W : 1983)
Map is a picture that shows some locations and the ways to get the locations.

Shanty : Excuse me, can you help me? I’m lost!
Edwin : Certainly, where would you like to go?
Shanty : I want to go to police station. Would you like giving me the
direction to go there? I forget the way.
Edwin : Yes, of course. You can go straight on this street, jasmine
street. You can turn left in the second intersection to PM street. Do you see?
Shanty : Oh yaa.. I see. In the traffic light, right?
Edwin : no, it’s not traffic light at the second
intersection. Remember, second intersection!
Shanty : oh ya... I see. Then, where I could go from there
Edwin : Turn left to PM street, just go straight on the street, and you
will find the police station in the corner of PM street and Irish street. It’s
across from hospital or 21 theater, exactly. Do you see them?
Shanty : Oh.. Ya
I see... thank you very much.
