How to go somewhere?

               In this term, I have a task to make a media for teaching English. Alhamdulillah, I choose to make a map. First, I thought what would I teaach, I remember when I learned "Direction", I need more focus, because it's so difficult to be understood. Well, here I will introduce my media.

1.      The Name of Media
Road Map - Chart
2.            The Meaning
Chart is a drawing which shows information in the form of a diagram, a map of the sea or the sky, etc. (Dian Kardijan, M.Pd)
Accordingto brown, James W. (1983;112), “to present visually ideas or concepts which are likely to be difficult to understand if they are presented in oral or written form. Chart also can highlight important points of presentations. An effective chart tends to be composed of mixture of several different types of graphics, pictures, drawings, graphs, diagram, ad verbal materials”.
3.            The Characteristic
Pictures in the charts should be big enough so the students sitting in the back of the class can still see them well. (Brown, James W : 1983)
Map is a picture that shows some locations and the ways to get the locations.
4.            The Usage
Map is used to show the locations. Why a map is used as media in teaching learning?
a.      To make students understand about position of a place;
b.     To make students understand the directions to go some places;
c.      To make the student can show the direction to go some places;
d.      To make students know and understand the vocabulary in direction.
5.            For Whom
The 1st grade of senior high school.
6.            How Does Make It
Preparation
Materials: Cartoon, Marker, pictures, scissors, glue, ruler, double tape and some papers.
Steps:
1.             browse the pictures in Internet and print the appropriate ones;
2.             make a draft of the road map in another paper, like this

3.             measure the cartoon ( 85 cm x 61 cm), and cut;
4.             make a draft that suitable with the draft in another paper;
5.             stick the folding paper (12 cmx 12cm), by using glue;
6.             stick the picture on the folding paper, make it suitable with the draft.
7.             give the name of place in every pictures. It must be suitable also. (the name must be clear enough to be read).
8.             Don’t forget to give which one the right side and which one the left side.
9.             Make a dialogue and some vocabularies without the meaning (in another paper) to be explained by using the road place.

7.     How to Use This Media
1.      Stick the media (Road map) on the blackboard by using double tape;
2.      Copy the dialogue and vacabularies paper as much as students in the class;
3.      Share it to the students;
4.      Read the dialogue and show the directions (in that dialogue) by using the media (road map)
5.      Ask the students what the meaning of the vocabularies and make the students can show the meanings through the media;
6.      For evaluation, the teacher can ask the students to give the directions to go some places;

8.     Why I Choose This Media?
It is very simple, easy to bring, easy to use in teaching learning proccess.
